Taith i Blantasia Bl4 / Trip to Plantasia Yr4

Adeiladu sylfaen o wybodaeth ac yn meddu’r sgiliau i gysylltu a chymhwyso’r wybodaeth honno o fewn testunau gwahanol / Are building up a body of knowledge and have the skills to connect and apply that knowledge in different contexts.

Yn ystod ein taith i Blantasia, dysgodd plant blwyddyn 4 am ysglyfaethwyr ac ysglyfaeth a’r cadwyni bwyd. Dysgon nhw am y lefelau troffig, a’r ffyrdd y mae anifeiliaid yn addasu i’w rolau yn y gadwyn fwyd. Cwrddon nhw ag anifeiliaid anhygoel yn agos, ac adeiladu cadwyn fwyd 3D eu hunain yn ystod y gweithdy cyffrous, rhyngweithiol. Cawsant hefyd amser i archwilio’r sw fforest law yng nghanol dinas Abertawe a mwynhau gweld yr amrywiaeth o blanhigion ac anifeiliaid sydd yn cael eu harddangos.

During our trip to Plantasia, children in year 4 learnt about predators and prey and the food chains. They learnt all about the trophic levels, and the ways in which animals adapt to their roles in the food chain. They met some awesome animals up close, and built a 3D food chain of their own during the exciting, interactive workshop. They also had time to explore the rainforest zoo in the heart of Swansea City Centre and enjoyed seeing the variety of plants and animals on display.

Yn ystod yr wythnos diwethaf mae plant Cam Cynnydd 3 wedi bod yn defnyddio yr hyn maent wedi dysgu am ddeunyddiau ac ynysyddion thermol i arbrofi i weld pa ddeunydd yw’r ynysydd thermol mwyaf effeithiol i gadw diodydd yn dwym ac yn oer.

During the last week, children from Progression Step 3 have been applying their knowledge and understanding of materials and thermal insulators in an experiment to find out which materials are the most effective at keeping drinks hot and cold.

Are questioning and enjoy solving problems / Holi ac yn mwynhau datrys problemau.

Yn ystod y gweithdy, cafodd blant Cam Cynnydd 3 cyfle i drafod manteision ac anfanteision defnyddio robotiaid ar gyfer tasgau cyn adeiladu robotiaid LEGO Spike eu hunain. Ar ôl iddynt adeiladu y robot fe wnaethant raglennu’r robot gan ddefnyddio codio bloc sylfaenol a gosodir amrywiaeth o heriau iddynt gan gynnwys llwyio drysfa. Roedd y gweithdy wedi bod yn fuddiol o ran datblygu gwydnwch dysgwyr wrth iddynt ehangu eu sgiliau adeiladu tîm a datrys problemau.

During this workshop children from Progression Step 3 had the chance to discuss the pros and cons of using robots for tasks before building their own LEGO Spike robots. Once built they were shown how to program the robot using basic block coding and then were set a variety of challenges including navigating a maze. This workshop has proven to be beneficial in developing the resilience of learners as they broaden both their team building and problem-solving skills.

Cafodd blant blwyddyn 5 hwyl yn gario allan arbrawf teg i weld os ydy ‘huddle’ pengwiniaid yn helpu lleihau colled tymheredd. Mesurodd y plant y gwres a gollwyd dros hanner awr pan roddwyd dŵr poeth mewn un tiwb profi ac yna ei gymharu â ‘huddle’ o 7 tiwb profi a ‘huddle’ o 19 tiwb profi. Profodd y canlyniadau fod y ‘huddle’ yn lleihau colled tymheredd.

Year 5 children had fun carrying out an experiment to see if the penguin ‘huddle’ really does help prevent heat loss. The children measured the heat loss over half an hour when hot water was placed in a single test tube and then compared it to a huddle of 7 test tubes and a huddle of 19 test tubes. The results proved that the ‘huddle’ does prevent heat loss.

Cafodd blant Cam Cynnydd 3 llawer o hwyl a sbri yn atgyfnerthu yr hyn maent yn eu gwybod am rymoedd a disgyrchiant yn y gwasanaeth Gwyddoniaeth Gwyllt heddi. Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn i gwmni Mad Science am yr ymweliad. Fe ysbrydolodd a syfrdanodd Dr Davies y plant gydag arbrofion gwyddonol gan ddod â byd gwyddoniaeth yn fyw ar fore Llun oer.

Progression Step 3 children had lots of fun learning about forces during the Mad Science assembly today. We are very grateful to Mad Science of South Wales and Bristol for the visit today. Dr Davies inspired and wowed the children with scientific experiments bringing the world of science alive on a cold Monday morning.

Tachwedd 10fed / November 10th

Ar Ddiwrnod Diogelu Ein Planed (POP22) fe ddysgon ni sut rydym ni yn gallu helpu i ddiogelu ein planed. Trwy gyswllt byw gan arbenigwyr ac arwyr hinsawdd cudd o bob cwr o’r byd ac yma yn y DU fe wnaethom ddatblygu ein dealltwriaeth o heriau newid hinsawdd. Ymunon ni â dros 45,000 o bobl ifanc eraill ar gyfer POP22 i ddysgu sut rydym ni yn gallu helpu hyrwyddo dyfodol mwy cynaliadwy. / On Protecting our Planet Day (POP22) we learnt about the many ways that we can help protect our planet. Through live link ups from experts and hidden climate heroes from around the world and here in the UK we developed our understanding of the challenges of climate change. We joined over 45,000 other young people for POP22 to learn how we can play a part in a more sustainable future.
